When Influencer, Casey Neistat Made A Video About Nike HyperAdapt Self-Lacing Shoes, It Made Him Cry.

Why does the world need auto-lacing shoes, when the original lace works just fine? This is the question YouTube Influencer Casey Neistat asked when he created this non-sponsored video for the new and totally awesome Nike HyperAdapt self-lacing, battery operated, motorized sneakers. The result made him cry.

As Casey reveals, the story behind Nike’s new futuristic motorized sneakers is heartwarming.

Many people can’t tie their own shoes. And not everyone has the motor functions in their hands to tie their own shoes, such as people with cerebral palsy. Casey takes us through how Nike created HyperAdapt self-lacing sneakers for the greater good. Plus we see how the new motorized sneakers self-lace, glow and charge for hours of activity. (Awesome!)

Marty McFly introduced us to self-lacing motorized sneakers in the time travel movie Back To The Future II. In the movie, McFly is transported to 2015, where he encounters self-lacing shoes. Since then, the world has been waiting for futuristic sneakers to become a reality.

Last year, Nike announced they were looking to bring a self-lacing shoe to the world. Now in 2017, they have arrived. Due to this exciting news, social media influencers are already anticipating and preparing for epic ‘unboxing’ social media posts. They are getting primed for when the Nike Hyperadapt 1.0 shoes go on sale towards the end of this year.

Casey Neistat shows us how the sneakers come with a charger that can easily be clipped in. In addition, tiny electric motors in each shoe tighten and loosen the laces. This means when you put the shoes on, sensors react, tightening them around your foot. Then at anytime you can easily control how tight you would like your laces to be, using tiny buttons set on the side of the shoes. Neat.

What?! The lights change! Lights in the sole and on the back of the shoe indicate the power level. Most noteworthy, the sneaker lights change from blue through yellow to red when they need recharging. And with an impressive three-hour charge, the futuristic sneakers give enough power for a couple of weeks of use.
